Round One Endurocross Recap: Surviving the Chaos in Colorado Springs

EnduroCross Round One: Colorado Springs Recap

The first round of any series is always exciting, and Colorado Springs was no exception. Riders were ready to throw down, eager to set the tone for the season and claim early points toward the championship. And when things get wild, it’s all about staying smart, adaptable, and focused on the bigger picture.

Race Recap: 5-5-5 Moto Scores

Consistency was the theme of my night, with all three motos landing me in 5th place. While I didn't snag a podium finish, there were plenty of positives to take away and a few lessons to learn for the rounds ahead.

What Went Well

  • Clean Riding & Smart Lines: Avoiding carnage is key in EnduroCross, and I kept it mostly clean throughout the night. I felt confident in my line choices and comfortable switching things up when needed.

  • Bike Setup Dialed: My bike wasn’t the fastest on the track, but it handled beautifully. It felt lightweight, easy to maneuver, and gave me the confidence I needed to stay aggressive.

  • Good Track Awareness: I stayed alert and forward-focused, which helped me avoid trouble and stay in the fight.

  • Strong Finish: The final lap of the last moto was my fastest of the night, showing that I stayed mentally engaged and finished strong even when things got tough.

Areas for Improvement

  • Endurance & Pacing: I started each race strong but found myself laboring in the middle before catching a second wind toward the end. I need to maintain that fast lap pace throughout the entire moto.

  • Finding Speed: To consistently fight for wins, I need to shave a little time. It’s a small gap, but in EnduroCross, every fraction of a second counts.

Takeaways from Round One

Preparation is everything. This race was a reminder that staying adaptable on the bike and managing energy over the course of each moto is just as important as raw speed. I’ll be dialing in my endurance training, refining my race craft, and working on that hot lap pace heading into the next round.

Round one is in the books, and I’m excited to carry this momentum forward. On to the next race – the fight continues!
